Mine is General Foods International “Coffee” mix.  Let’s just get this out of the way, it’s not coffee.  Even though it contains coffee, it bears no actual resemblance to that which you might think of as coffee, as one might say, it’s a drink not quite, but almost entirely unlike coffee.  Its primary ingredient is sugar, followed by non-dairy creamer.

I’m a serious coffee snob.  I’m the target audience for espresso flights at miserably overpriced yuppie restaurants.  There was a time when I’d order coffee fresh from my favorite east coast roaster via express mail, and when I wasn’t doing that, I’d drive an hour and a half each way every week to buy fresh beans from a local place.

…and yet I love this godawful stuff that poses as coffee.  I’ve got a cup of it right now.

Mint and I were talking about classic games the other day, and we agree, the reason we still enjoy them so much is not just nostalgia, though of course that’s part of it.  It’s because old-school games are still fun, despite the leaps and bounds technology has taken, they’re still entertaining, and even after all these years they’re still challenging, (at least to us non-3733t g4m3rz, yo).  Three decades later it still retains its playablity, wow.

…also, I do not think I have ever heard the studio version of “Psycho Killer” until now.  (Hey, I’ve seen David Byrne live twice.  I just really prefer Stop Making Sense to their studio stuff.  So sue me.)  Stop Making Sense, totally an album with lasting appeal.  JUST LIKE SUPER MARIO BROTHERS.  See?  I tied it all together.

No, seriously, this is probably the most wrong and hilarious 80’s thing ever made.  It starts off wrong, and just gets worse and worse and worse.

Oh it’s so true.  Californians are just about as blase as people can get about earthquakes.

If you somehow managed to miss the news, we caught part of an earthquake here today.  It was quite big, but here in the OC it was a rolling quake, they don’t tend to do that much damage, since the motion is smooth they’re quite gentle as far as earthquakes go…

Unless of course they’re very, very big.  Our ground here is a layer of dirt over a base of mostly sand, and a big rolling quake will cause that sand to act like a liquid, and that, my friends, causes buildings to literally sink into the ground.  Awesome!  …or not.
