“Instead of studying the world, I studied myself.”
Saul Williams is my favorite poet, though it seems to trivialize his work, to call him just a poet. I find his work too harsh for any sort of casual listening, and he talks about a lot of things that I couldn’t possibly pretend to understand, but I empathize with that basic feeling…
Art is most universal when it’s personal.

Red Priest!
Went to the Red Priest Nightmare in Venice concert at Le Lycee Francais tonight… Everyone was, of course, speaking French.
Red Priest are an interesting group, popularists at heart. It was fun. The audience really didn’t know what to make of classical musicians who actually perform, rather than just reproduce music. They’re technically proficient, but tend to play a bit messily; perhaps they’re rebelling against the required perfection of the classical world.
“We tend to forget that people in the olden days were having fun.”
Pomplamoose Music
I really just adore these two, her voice is so sweet… and Nature Boy is awesome.
